Brighton grew into the game as the half wore on, and they took the lead when Trossard finished off a fine move involving Marc Cucurella and Maupay. Wolves pushed for an equaliser in the second half, but they were unable to break down a resolute Brighton defence. Maupay then wrapped up the points for Brighton with a well-taken goal in the 64th minute.
The win is a major boost for Brighton's hopes of qualifying for Europe next season. They are now just four points behind second-placed Manchester City and have a game in hand on the Premier League champions. Wolves, meanwhile, remain in ninth place, but they are now just three points off the top four.
