WEB Thunders Nerlens Noel Diagnosed with Concussion After Hard Elbow to Head
Former Kentucky Standout Nerlens Noel Out Indefinitely
Noel has missed every regular season game of the year with injuries.
WEB Oklahoma City Thunder center Nerlens Noel suffered a concussion from the fall he took against Karl-Anthony Towns and the Minnesotta Timberwolves on Monday, March 11th. After spending time with the Delaware 87ers of the NBA Development League on injury rehab assignments in late November and early December, Noel suffered setbacks with knee and hamstring injuries in the preseason.
Noel had shown promise after playing for the Thunders in the Orlando Bubble during the 2020 NBA season. Noel spent the first four seasons of his career in Philadelphia, then a season in Dallas before joining Oklahoma City.
The 6-foot-11 big man out of Kentucky is known for his defense and rebounding. He was the NBA's Defensive Player of the Year runner-up in 2015. Noel was averaging 5.3 points and 5.6 rebounds in 17 games this season before the latest injury.
There is no timetable for Noel's return. The Thunder are hopeful that he can return before the end of the season, but they are being cautious with his recovery.
