New Hanover County is experiencing widespread power outages Wednesday evening due to issues with Duke Energy. Over 11,000 customers are without power in the Wilmington area, according to the Duke Energy outage map.
The outages began around 5:30 p.m. and are affecting customers in several parts of the county, including downtown Wilmington, Monkey Junction, and Wrightsville Beach.
Duke Energy crews are working to restore power as quickly as possible. The company has not yet released an estimated time for when power will be restored.
In the meantime, residents are urged to conserve energy and avoid using large appliances. They should also be prepared for the possibility of extended outages.
